Embracing new talents and shaping the future at phs Compliance

At phs Compliance, we believe that nurturing new talent is essential for shaping a brighter future in our industry. Our commitment to learning and growth is evident in our apprenticeship program, which allows individuals to learn while they earn. With a strong emphasis on mentorship and hands-on experience, we are proud to introduce some of our talented apprentices up in Scotland.

Meet our apprentices

Brody Duncan

Position: SJIB Apprenticed Electrician

Stage: 3rd Year

Brody Duncan is currently in his third year as an apprentice electrician with phs Compliance. His enthusiasm for the job is visible, as he enjoys working alongside various engineers, including his father, Mark, and now his brother, Warren. Recently, Brody passed his driving test, which he views as a significant milestone toward his goal of becoming a fully qualified electrician. He looks forward to managing his own jobs in the van and is excited about the opportunity to teach his younger brother as well. "It’s a great place to work, and I’m happy to be here" Brody shares.

Warren Duncan

Position: SJIB Apprenticed Electrician

Stage: 1st Year

Warren Duncan, Brody's younger brother, is in the first year of his apprenticeship with phs Compliance. He finds his new role much more rewarding than being in school, as it allows him to learn practical skills while working alongside his brother and the engineering team. Warren eagerly anticipates starting college next month to delve deeper into electrical work. "I love learning new tasks every day and getting to visit different places" he says, reflecting his enthusiasm for this career path.

Morad Yassin

Position: SJIB Adult Trainee Electrician

Stage: 2nd Year

Morad Yassin is also in the second year of his apprenticeship, and he brings a unique perspective as an adult trainee. He appreciates the work-life balance that phs Compliance offers and enjoys collaborating with his engineering team. "The environment here is supportive, and I’m learning a lot under my manager, Mark" Morad explains, showcasing the positive workplace culture at phs.

The role of mentorship

A staple in all three of the apprentice’s development is Mark Duncan, a qualified engineer who plays a vital role in training our apprentices. Mark has been instrumental in guiding his sons Brody and Warren since their work experience days during the Edinburgh Jet HMRC Project and Morad in his pursuit to be a qualifying engineer. Speaking about his sons, he has witnessed their growth firsthand and continues to inspire them as they embark on their electrical careers. “It’s rewarding to see both of them secure full-time apprenticeships with us” Mark says, reflecting on their journey. Just last week, he had the pleasure of seeing them work on remedial tasks at their former high school, where their teachers spoke highly of their accomplishments.

A commitment to the future

At phs Compliance, we are proud to foster a culture of learning and development. Our apprenticeship program is a testament to our commitment to shaping the future of our industry through the talents of individuals like Brody, Warren, and Morad. With the support of experienced mentors like Mark, we aim to empower the next generation of electricians to succeed and thrive.

We look forward to seeing how our apprentices continue to grow and make a positive impact in their careers and the community. Together, we are building a brighter future, one apprentice at a time.
